MV Adora is one of the most beautiful vessels cruising the Indian Ocean.  She is a state of the art, 123ft tri-deck luxury yacht operating surf charters in the Maldives from May to October.  Owned and operated by a local Maldivian family, who are committed to providing a truly memorable surfing adventure in the Maldives, comfort, excellence and an exceptional experience are at the heart of their commitment to all guests onboard the MV Adora.

Built in late 2014, MV Adora just oozes luxury, making it the perfect option for couples with non-surfing partners. The 65ft support dhoni can be equipped with stand-up paddle boards, fishing equipment and scuba diving gear and has ample storage space for all your surfboards. When you aren’t out enjoying the beautiful, user-friendly surf or the other water activities that the Maldives has to offer, just relax on this beautiful private charter in air-conditioned comfort or up on the huge sundeck that looks more like a rooftop terrace bar than the roof of a boat.

The MV Adora features 11 cabins and can accommodate up to 21 guests. However, they have a set a maximum limit of 12 surfers on each charter, so it is likely you will get your own cabin.  Each cabin has an en-suite bathroom and individually controlled air-conditioning.  The stylishly designed MV Adora offers a spacious, air-conditioned indoor saloon and bar area with entertainment system and a beautiful sundeck with cushioned sunbeds for relaxing between surfs.  The local cuisine aboard the MV Adora offers tastes from the Maldives, India and Sri Lanka, as well as other international and western dishes, to keep you fully fueled throughout your action-packed surf trip.

A popular choice for dining location with many guests is up on the top deck.  As the day draws to a close and the sun sets, there is no better place to enjoy a post-surf, pre-dinner drink. The MV Adora crew will serve dinner to you on the top deck or you can make your way downstairs to the formal dining room and eat in air-conditioned comfort.

Non Surf Activities

Grab a set of fins and snorkel and dive into the crystal clear waters directly off the back of MV Adora or jump on a sturdy stand-up paddle board and whisk yourself away to an uninhabited island to explore what lies beyond the palm-fringed islands.  There is always something to do, even if you aren’t surfing!  MV Adora can also prepare scuba diving for you off their dhoni support vessel (licensed divers only).

The Surf

During the months May-October, MV Adora will be operating in the Male Atolls. The conditions are predominantly off-shore all day and the swell direction is mainly South South East (SSE) during this time.  The surf generally ranges in size from 2-8 feet, however bigger days have been experienced.

A great variety of reef breaks exist ranging in intensity from quite mellow, shreddable walls to gnarlier, hollow pits.  There is something for everyone.  Their guides are some of the most experienced you will meet. They not only monitor the conditions but are constantly checking with other boat skippers/guides where they will be to avoid paddling out and instantly crowding the lineups. This kind of coordination and experience can be the difference between surfing with 40 guys out or just your crew!

The Breaks:

Jailbreaks is a classic right-hander.  A long down-the-line wave with 3 distinct sections including a mid barrel section.  Rides of up to 300m can be had when it’s lining up.

20 minutes further North, you will find the right-hander known as Ninjas which breaks off Kani Resort.  A mellower right-hander perfect for longboarding or just cruising on the fish, although on bigger swells it can be a heap of fun on a regular short board.

25 minutes north are 2 breaks opposite each other at a reef pass.  The right-hander known as Cokes (Colas) breaks 3-10ft and is fairly protected from the southerly winds that may affect other breaks.  This wave has been well documented and is the hollowest in the North Male atoll.  This will test your tube-riding ability.

The left hander known as Chickens is probably the fastest wave in the North Male atoll.  This wave holds swell size from 3ft to well over 10ft and provides exciting rides up to 500m long.

The South Male’ Atoll also has several great set-ups that with the right swell direction can be amazing.  World Surfaris surf-guides have vast experience in this region and can make recommendations accordingly.  It is only a 2 hour trip from Nth Male’ Atoll breaks to the Sth Male’ Atoll breaks. It’s definitely worth checking out on a solid SE swell and Tucky Joe’s left might just dish up the barrel of your life. Riptides is also a super rippable and one of the funnest waves you will ever experience. If the swell is on, head South!
